Dermaplaning
Christchurch & Hamilton

Smooth, radiant, makeup-ready skin starts here.

At Ellis & Jones, our dermaplaning treatments gently exfoliate the skin to remove dull surface cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz), leaving your complexion silky smooth and instantly brighter.

It’s the perfect treatment for that healthy, fresh-faced glow — no downtime required.

What Is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a non-invasive exfoliating treatment that uses a sterile surgical blade to remove dead skin cells and fine facial hair from the surface of the skin.

The process instantly improves texture, helps skincare products absorb more effectively, and creates a flawless canvas for makeup application.

The Benefits of Dermaplaning

1

Instantly smoother, brighter skin

Removes dead skin cells and fine hair for a polished, radiant complexion.

2

Better skincare absorption

Allows your serums and moisturisers to penetrate more deeply for maximum benefit.

3

Flawless makeup application

Creates a smooth surface that helps makeup sit beautifully and evenly on the skin.

The Ellis & Jones Difference

We combine advanced technique with a soft, gentle approach to ensure your skin feels smooth, refreshed, and renewed — never irritated.

Dermaplaning is often paired with other treatments like DMK enzyme therapy, LED, or skin boosters to amplify results and maintain long-term skin health.

Frequently asked questions

Is dermaplaning safe?

Yes. When performed by trained professionals, dermaplaning is a completely safe and effective exfoliation treatment suitable for most skin types.

Will dermaplaning make my hair grow back thicker?

No. Dermaplaning does not change the colour, thickness, or growth rate of facial hair. The fine vellus hair will grow back just as it was before.

How often should I get dermaplaning?

Most clients schedule treatments every 4–6 weeks to maintain smooth, bright, and even skin year-round.

Can dermaplaning help with acne or pigmentation?

Dermaplaning can improve mild acne scars and uneven skin tone by promoting cell turnover. For active acne, your nurse may recommend a different treatment plan first.
For acne and pigmentation we have BBL & Moxi Laser treatment and also DMK enzyme treatments that we might recommend first.

What should I avoid after dermaplaning?

Avoid exfoliating products, saunas, and direct sun exposure for 24–48 hours after treatment. Always apply SPF daily to protect your fresh, new skin.
